NCACCT Services

• Statewide Meetings: Programs are designed to provide education, orientation, and exchange of information. Examples are: Leadership Seminar, Law Seminar, and Annual Convention.

• Customized Board Education: NCACCT provides specialized contractual educational programs for individual boards of trustees. The sessions are planned by an NCACCT Consultant, Executive Director, the College Board Chair and/or President based on the needs of the board. This educational session does not replace the orientation for new and reappointed trustees offered at statewide meetings.

• Presidential Search Services: NCACCT provides contractual presidential search services ranging in scope from assisting with the full search process to strictly background checks on certain candidates. Fees cover only the cost of the consultant. Expenses connected with the search are paid by the college.

• Newsletter: The North Carolina Association of Community College Trustees REVIEW contains educational and informational articles and is distributed to North Carolina trustees, presidents, State Board of Community Colleges members, and other interested readers.

• Handbook for Trustees: Published in loose-leaf format, the Handbook contains the NCACCT Constitution and Bylaws, position statements adopted by the Association, a history of the association, a directory of all community college trustees in NC, and other useful material. Information is periodically updated and provided through NCACCT's web page.

• Manual for Trustees: This publication contains information about the role and responsibilities of trustees and their relationship to other agencies and groups. The book is designed for new member orientation as well as a reference for all trustees.

• Legislative Advocacy: NCACCT coordinates legislative activities with trustees. The Executive Director and Associate Executive Director represent the association at legislative meetings. Trustees frequently make local contacts on specific issues and attend legislative committee meetings when special legislation is being considered and discussed. NCACCT staff sends periodic updates on actions of the General Assembly during sessions.

• Congressional Advocacy: NCACCT coordinates congressional legislative activities with trustees. The Executive Director and Associate Executive Director work closely with the Association of Community College Trustees and the American Association of Community Colleges in coordinating trustee lobbying efforts on congressional bills and issues.

• Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT): NCACCT cooperates with ACCT on federal and other state trustee association activities. NCACCT periodically hosts ACCT regional meetings.
