NCACCT Organization

Officers

Association officers are the President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer. An Executive Director is employed to discharge the administrative functions of the Association.

Membership

Appointed members of local boards of trustees of institutions subject to North Carolina General Statutes Chapter 115D are members upon board payment of annual dues by the board.

Governance

The membership has the power to conduct the business of the Association under the Corporate Constitution and Bylaws. A sixteen-member Executive Board, including the officers and immediate past president, is responsible for the management of the association. The Executive Director serves as a non-voting member of the Executive Board.

The Executive Board considers proposals for substantive action or policy direction in accordance with the purposes of the Association. Proposals requiring action by the entire membership are submitted for consideration at the Annual Meeting, together with a statement of advice or recommendation of the Executive Board regarding such proposal(s). The Executive Board is empowered by the Constitution to fill a vacancy in its membership, caused by death, sickness, resignation, non-reappointment as a trustee, or for any other reason, for the portion of the remaining term of the vacating member.

Executive Director

The Executive Director is the chief administrative officer of the Association and is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the association. The Executive Director recommends policies and programs that address the needs and views of community college trustees in their effort to become knowledgeable and responsible board members.
