Lynda Stanley Elected Chair of the
ACCT Board of Directors Executive Committee


WASHINGTON, DC - More than 2,000 community college trustees, presidents and leaders participated in the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) 2007 Community College Leadership Congress. This national gathering set the stage for the election of ACCT officers who provide leadership and direction for the 6,500 trustees and community colleges around the nation. Individuals from every region of the country were selected to represent the interests of their individual communities at the national level. ACCT’s annual Congress was held at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in

downtown San Diego, California from September 26 through September 29.

On Friday, September 28 the ACCT’s Board of Directors elected new officers to its Executive Committee: Lynda Stanley, Chair, Brunswick Community College, NC; Arthur Anthonisen, Chair-Elect, Orange County Community College, NY; Thomas M. Bennett, Vice-Chair, Parkland College, IL; Peter E. Sercer, Sr., Secretary-Treasurer, Midlands Technical College, SC; and Kitty Boyle, Immediate Past-Chair, Dallas County Community College District, TX.

“Our new trustees bring valuable and diverse leadership from a wide range of experience, yet all possess a deep commitment to community colleges,” said Lynda Stanley, ACCT Chair and Trustee at Brunswick Community College, NC. “I look forward to working with each of them to achieve our goals for the coming year."
